Food Benefits

The goal of SNAP-Ed is to provide educational programs that help SNAP households make healthy food choices and live active life styles consistent with the message reflected in the Dietary Guidelines for Americans and the MyPlate.

In Oregon, OSU Extension Service is contracted with the SNAP Program in the Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS) to provide activities that help bring awareness of the importance of good nutrition and improve health by promoting good eating habits. Besides OSU Extension Service, the Child Nutrition Program (CNP) in Oregon Department of Education (ODE), the WIC Program in the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) and the Nutrition Council of Oregon are also actively involved in delivering nutrition education to Oregonians.
