About Hazardous Substance Fee
The Oregon Hazardous Substance Possession Fee funds three programs designed to minimize the use and dangers of hazardous substances in Oregon.
Oregon Community Right to Know and Protection Act (ORS 453.307-414) identifies hazardous substances in Oregon, where they are stored, and the hazards associated with them. Information is then provided to emergency planners, first responders, and the public to protect the citizens of Oregon, their property, and the environment from the risks associated with these substances.
Toxic Use Reduction Program encourages pollution prevention through education and technical assistance, reducing the use of toxic chemicals, and reducing hazardous waste. The
Orphan Site Clean Up Program protects public health and the environment, including surface water, groundwater, and municipal drinking water supplies. The Hazardous Substance Fee is a major funding source for both programs.
You must notify the Oregon State Fire Marshal (OSFM) if you close, sell, or move your business or have an address change. Changes can be made in CHS Manager, Oregon State Fire Marshal's online hazardous substance portal located at https://oregon.hazconnect.com.
If you believe this fee was assessed in error, the fee amount is incorrect, or you need additional information about reporting please contact the OSFM.
