The Higher Education Coordinating Commission (HECC) agency convenes and/or participates in task forces and councils as directed by the Oregon Legislature or Governor. For task forces led by the HECC, the agency conducts this work at public meetings and welcomes public engagement. HECC and Department of Corrections - Senate Bill 269 Advisory Committee 

The Oregon Legislature established an advisory body related to the state agreements related to corrections education through Senate Bill 269 (2023). This legislation required that HECC and the Department of Corrections enter into an Memorandum of Understanding, to be reviewed annually, related to corrections education. The advisory body was established to assist with development, review, and monitoring of the MOU. Find public meeting materials for the Committee below.

Sexual Misconduct Survey Council

The Oregon Legislature established a Sexual Misconduct Survey Council through House Bill 3456 (2023). The Council is charged with developing a survey, to be conducted every two years, to evaluate sexual misconduct across Oregon higher education institutions, including reported cases of sexual misconduct and each institution’s approach to preventing/reducing and handling/addressing incidents. Find public meeting materials for the Council below.

  • Provide public comment: To sign up for public comment, submit written comment, or ask questions about the meeting, email the meeting administrator.  All written comments received become part of the public record and will be shared publicly in meeting materials. You can also read an introduction to providing public comment here.
  • Request accommodations: The HECC is committed to accessible services for all. Please send requests for alternative formats or accommodations for individuals with disabilities to the meeting administrator at least 72 hours in advance if possible.

Early Literacy and Educator Preparation

The HECC Executive Director Cannon is a participant and HECC staff are supporting Governor Kotek’s Early Literacy Council.

Stay Informed

Public Bodies No Longer Supported by the HECC

  • The Oregon Conservation Corps (OCC) Advisory Committee and the Oregon Youth Corps (OYC) Advisory Board were discontinued as of January 2023 as a result of state legislation. This work is replaced by the work of the new Oregon Youth Works Advisory Board. For records of past public meetings the OCC and OYC advisory boards when they were convened by the HECC, contact the HECC Office of Workforce Investments.
  • The STEM Investment Council is now managed by the Oregon Department of Education. For records of the past public meetings of this Council when they were convened by the HECC, contact the HECC Office of Workforce Investments.
