CPR Requirements

All actively licensed optometrists in Oregon must maintain continuous CPR certification as a condition of licensure.

Overview – What CPR Certification Is Required

  • Initial licensure requires completion of a hands-on CPR course that includes a skills demonstration.
  • After initial licensure, online CPR courses are acceptable to the Board.
  • BLS Healthcare Provider CPR certification is required for license renewal.
  • CPR courses do not count toward continuing education (CE) credit.

How to Document CPR Certification

  1. Complete an acceptable CPR certification course.
  2. Obtain a CPR certification card showing current status.
  3. Submit a copy of the CPR card with your initial license application.
  4. For renewals or updated CPR certifications, upload documentation through your licensing account.
