Board Update: Licensing System Transition

Board Update: Licensing System Transition

Published: April 8, 2026

Greetings! We let you know last month that the Board is changing its licensing system. We now have additional information to share. Please take note that we will not have an electronic system available for a period of time.  Please  plan any updates to your record around this time period for best results.

Our current licensing system and portals will be available through Friday April 17th at about 8 pm. The system will be down from April 17th until at least Wednesday April 22nd. That will allow the vendor to migrate the data into the new system, verify the data is correct and then train OBO staff of the new system. Just a precautionary heads up—the system may not be available on Wednesday April 22nd. OBO staff will email you when the new system is available and provide you with information on how to set up your account in the new system. Portal links will be removed from the OBO website on 4/17 and will be added back when the new system is available for access.

We've reached out to the April 30th expirations, so if you have a license renewal due in May or June, we'd like to ask you to wait until the new system is available to renew your license. We'd appreciate your help in testing the new system. It will also avoid the issue we've been having with incorrect fees being assessed that need to be refunded. The current system doesn't copy your CE carryover courses and the new system will do that. It will save staff time and effort on your part if you wait. If you'd like to renew before the new system is implemented, please do that by 8 pm on Friday April 17th. After that, the portal links won't be working and you'll get an error message.

Remember that you have to report address and place of practice changes within 14 days but no later than the effective date to avoid a late reporting fee. If you have an address or place of practice change happening between 4/17 and 4/27, please make the change in the system before it goes down on the 17th. That way you will avoid a late reporting fee.

We are here to help with this transition. We are confident that the new system will be easier and more user friendly. We will be getting some functionality back that we'd lost the last two years. The new system also has some new features. It will be worth the work and the wait. We appreciate your patience as we go through this process.

I'll be on vacation between Thursday 4/9/26 and back in the office on Wednesday 4/22/26. Gabby will be working on her own and keeping everything working. Please be patient with her. It's application season, so she's working on the normal day to day work as well as processing license applications. She's dedicated to high quality customer service but will need some grace during this transition. We appreciate your support through this transition. Please know that Gabby and I are dedicated to maintaining high quality service and providing systems that support your licensing needs.
