Rangeland health

Rangelands span most of Oregon.  Rangelands provide open space for livestock, forage, wildlife habitat for a wide array of species and provide significant carbon bank in the soil.  When rangelands are healthy, they are an economic and ecological foundation for our state.  However, we are losing an average of 1.3 million acres of functional rangelands each year.

There are new tools and investments to renew focus and effort to manage rangelands to keep the good areas and to improve areas that can be saved.  Community efforts are growing around the state to meet this challenge, and ODA is joining the work with our Rangeland Initiative.
