Summary of Services: 
The Benton County Veterans Service Office (VSO) is managed by the Oregon Cascades West Council of Governments in partnership with the Benton County Commissioners. The office is staffed by an accredited Veterans Service Officer, certified through the Oregon Department of Veterans Affairs (ODVA) and the National Association of County Veterans Service Officers (NACVSO). This ensures veterans and their families receive informed, personalized support to maximize their VA benefits.

The VSO assists veterans and their families in filing claims for VA benefits, including compensation, pensions, survivor benefits, and healthcare. The office advocates on behalf of claimants to help ensure they receive all benefits for which they are eligible.

NAMI Multnomah provides free, peer-led education programssupport groups, and advocacy initiatives that actively support community mental health. Summary of Services: 

OHA's mission is ensuring all people and communities can achieve optimum physical, mental, and social well-being through partnerships, prevention, and access to quality, affordable health care. OHA includes most of the state's health care programs, including Public Health and the Oregon Health Plan.  OHA and OHA's Veteran and Military Behavioral Health Program works to support all individuals who served by:

  • Assisting with enrollment in the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) including the OHP Veteran Dental Program which launched in November 2022
  • Supporting military specific training opportunities for health care providers, such as those designed to grow a provider's knowledge and skill set in military culture
  • Supporting community engagement and military specific training opportunities for people who have served in the military through listening sessions, community outreach, and workforce development opportunities such as Peer Support Specialist trainings
  • Offering military specific Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training opportunities
  • Launching Oregon's first Veteran Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist (VBHPSS) program, designed to respond to the behavioral health needs of anyone who served
  • Funding Tribal Veteran specific programming
  • Developing and implementing suicide prevention, intervention, and suicide response (postvention) programming specific within SMVF and military connected communities
