Summary of Services:
OHA's mission is ensuring all people and communities can achieve optimum physical, mental, and social well-being through partnerships, prevention, and access to quality, affordable health care. OHA includes most of the state's health care programs, including Public Health and the Oregon Health Plan. OHA and OHA's Veteran and Military Behavioral Health Program works to support all individuals who served by:
- Assisting with enrollment in the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) including the OHP Veteran Dental Program which launched in November 2022
- Supporting military specific training opportunities for health care providers, such as those designed to grow a provider's knowledge and skill set in military culture
- Supporting community engagement and military specific training opportunities for people who have served in the military through listening sessions, community outreach, and workforce development opportunities such as Peer Support Specialist trainings
- Offering military specific Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training opportunities
- Launching Oregon's first Veteran Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist (VBHPSS) program, designed to respond to the behavioral health needs of anyone who served
- Funding Tribal Veteran specific programming
- Developing and implementing suicide prevention, intervention, and suicide response (postvention) programming specific within SMVF and military connected communities
