National Tools
Search for Schools and Colleges
Search for locations and information about public and private K-12 schools, colleges, and libraries. Information available for K-12 schools includes a breakdown of enrollment by ethnicity, grade level, teacher FTE, and teacher/student ratio.
Public School and District Locator
This page links to several tools that utilize information from the Common Core of Data (CCD) which is reported by the Oregon Department of Education. The table tool can map school librarian and library staff FTE at a county level. Note, though, that the positions of librarian and library support staff are not defined in terms of credentials. This data is collected annually directly from State Education Agencies (SEAs).
Education Demographic and Geographic Estimates (EDGE)
The Education Demographic and Geographic Estimates website provides access to school district geographic and demographic data useful for describing and analyzing characteristics of school districts, children, and K-12 education. Information is from the decennial census.

National and Other Reports
National Center for Education Statistics (NCES)
The NCES surveys around 9,000 public schools, 3,500 private schools, and 160 Bureau of Indian Affairs schools every four years to study school library expenditures, staffing, collections and services. The survey was part of the Schools and Staffing Survey (SASS) between 1999 and 2012. Some school library and public library use data is also included in some of the longitudinal studies now being done by NCES.
School Library Impact Studies
Many studies have been done that correlate strong school library programs with student sucess. The Library Research Service documents many of them.
