The state anticipates a significant budget impact in the
state revenue forecast coming on May 20. Early estimates indicate this impact
could be a reduction of $3 billion for the current budget period. Governor
Brown directed state agencies to prepare prioritized general fund reduction
plans equaling 8.5% for this biennium, equivalent to 17% for the next fiscal
year, as a planning exercise to explore all options. For the State Library,
this would be a reduction of $357,000.
