EDX test environment instructions

The EDX test environment enables you to practice using EDX without affecting your PERS employer and member demographic data. In this environment, you can set up your user accounts, create web-based reports, submit your reports, correct errors, validate your reports, post your reports, and view your remittance statements.

You can use the test environment for following situations:

  • When taking an ESC training class.
  • To make sure loading records and posting reports work as expected after a software change.
  • To validate the content and format of your reports are correct before posting them in the real EDX.

Logging in
To access the EDX Test system, go to the EDX Access webpage.
Click the EDX Test System link.
Note the “TEST SITE” under the PERS logo in the upper left corner.
Enter your Test Site user ID and password, and click Log in.

EDX test procedures

The EDX test environment will be preloaded with test data using your PERS employer and member demographic data. Testing against this data will not affect actual employer or employee data.

When you begin web-based reporting, you will use one of three methods to add records to your reports:

  1. File upload method. Upload an electronic file, known as a “.dat” file, that contains your wage, service, and demographic information. Required for employers with more than 250 employees. For instructions, read the EDX File Format and Development Guide.
  2. Copy forward method. Copy the last 100% posted report and make corrections/modifications necessary for the current reporting period. The copy-forward method allows employers to copy the previous wage and contribution data to a new report to help minimize data entry. If data differs from the reported copy, each record will need to be edited.
  3. Create a new record. EDX opens a blank record into which you enter wage, service, and demographic data for one employee at a time.
