All-Hazards COMT Course Information

PLEASE NOTE: Registering through this portal DOES NOT confirm a seat in the COMT course. You must also submit copies of all of the following prerequisites: 

ICS-100, ICS-200, ICS-700, ICS-800. (EMI Transcripts are acceptable) Once these requirements have been verified, students confirmed for the course will receive an email from the class coordinator confirming their registration.

Submit documents to swic.or@das.oregon.gov with the subject line: FALL 2023 COMT PREREQUISITES.

Seats for this course are limited and priority will be given to students serving public sector emergency response agencies with a geographic response area located in Oregon. Registrations will generally be confirmed on a first come, first serve basis. A waiting list will be established should course vacancies occur.

COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course is offered by the Oregon Statewide Interoperability Program, in partnership with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency's Interoperable Communications Technical Assistance Program (ICTAP), the All-Hazards Communications Technician (COMT) training equips public safety professionals and support staff with the essential knowledge and skills for coordinating on-scene emergency communications during multi-jurisdictional responses. The course delves into various communication concepts and technologies, including interoperable communication solutions, LMR communications, satellite, telephone, data, and computer technologies used in incident response and planned events. The course provides a realistic, hands-on approach to mastering the tasks and skills of the COMT. This 5 day course is limited to 16 students. Following course completion, each attendee receives a Position Task Book to complete prior to achieving certification.
