WCB ALJ anonymous survey

Workers' Compensation Board Report
2020 Administrative Law Judge Survey

Pursuant to ORS 656.724(3)(b), the Workers’ Compensation Board Chair is required to conduct an annual survey of all attorneys regularly participating in workers' compensation cases to rate anonymously WCB’s Administrative Law Judges as to knowledge of workers' compensation law, judicial temperament, capability to handle hearings/mediations, diligence and efficiency, and effective communication.  The Board Chair is further required to publish the results of the survey, listing each Administrative Law Judge by name.

Consistent with ORS 656.724(3)(b), WCB sent 188 questionnaires.  A total of 30 questionnaires (for hearings and mediations) were returned in proper format to be considered, which is a response rate of 16%.

14 respondents (46.7%) reported that they represented insurers or employers and 14 respondents (46.7%) reported that they represented injured workers.  Two respondents did not indicate who they represented (6.7%)

If you have any comments, concerns, or questions about the survey or the survey results you may contact me at 503-934-0090 or, if you prefer, Presiding Administrative Law Judge, Joy M. Dougherty.  She can be reached at 503-934-0104.
