Governor Kitzhaber created the position of state Chief Operating Officer to review outdated systems, streamline departments and create efficiencies and cost savings within state government. Michael Jordan assumed this post in March 2011 and immediately began working towards achieving transformative, long-term change and developing an agile organization that is able to meet current and future challenges.
To fulfill this monumental task, the COO Office has coordinated the following work teams and statewide initiatives that cross jurisdictional and agency boundaries:

in coordination with a 10-year sustainable budget framework

| an initiative to maximize the dollars that serve Oregonians |

| agency leaders working together to guide change for state agencies |

| internal and external communications and legislative coordination |
