See and be seen
ODOT's new bike safety poster.
ODOT's new bike safety poster.
Collisions between bikes and motor vehicles, especially large trucks, can happen because the driver doesn’t see the rider. Bicyclists can be safer by being seen, and following some simple safety rules.

In order to be more visible to drivers –
  • Ride with, not against, traffic
  • Don’t ride in the vehicle’s blind spot
  • Dress to be visible
  • Use lights on your bike at night
  • Anticipate possible actions of the drivers around you
  • Always wear a helmet (under 16, it’s the law).
