Oregonians offered opportunity to provide input on motorcycle safety

Do you have ideas on how to improve safety for motorcyclists traveling Oregon’s highways? Well, now is your opportunity to share your thoughts. The Governor’s Advisory Committee on Motorcycle Safety and the Oregon Department of Transportation are hosting a listening session to gather input on issues important to motorcyclists. The session is at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 15, 2008, at the Oregon Department of Veteran’s Affairs, 700 Summer St. NE in Salem.
The Governor’s Advisory Committee on Motorcycle Safety is concerned about Oregon’s current rate of motorcycle fatalities and would like to gather ideas from motorcycle riders, car drivers and other interested people on ways to reduce motorcycle crashes, injuries and fatalities.
The committee will conduct a regular business meeting, take public input and hear reports on motorcycle safety programs from stakeholders. Organizations that provide reports to the group may include ODOT’s Transportation Safety Division, the TEAM OREGON Motorcycle Safety Program, Oregon State Police, DMV and motorcycle organizations.
