The Energy Facility Siting Council (EFSC)’s Advisory Committee on Carbon Dioxide Equivalent Offsets (Committee) will hold their second meeting on Monday, Sept. 27 in Salem. The meeting is open to the public.
Agenda items include:
  • Presentation on energy facility siting in Oregon by Tom Stoops, Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE); and
  • Review statute (ORS 469.503) and identify options to comply with the CO2 standard.
A complete agenda and a list of Committee members is available at the Oregon Department of Energy website at www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/SITING/CO2e_WorkingGroup.shtml. ODOE serves as staff to EFSC.
The meeting will be held from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Oregon Department of Energy, 625 Marion St. NE in Salem.
EFSC approved the establishment of the Committee at its July meeting. The nine-member Committee will provide input for EFSC and Oregon Department of Energy (ODOE) to consider in the development of proposed rule language for allowing offset projects that reduce greenhouse gases other than carbon dioxide (e.g., methane and nitrous oxide) to help comply with the Oregon Carbon Dioxide Standard. This would allow a range of emission reduction projects in the agricultural and waste sectors to potentially qualify as offset projects.
