SALEM — The State Energy Loan Program Advisory Committee will meet at 10 a.m. on Thursday, March 15 in Salem. The public meeting will be held at the Oregon Department of Energy (625 Marion St. NE).

The main item on the SELPAC agenda is a loan request for $8.2 million from the University of Oregon to fund the cogeneration turbine portion of the Central Power Station upgrade. Bob Repine, Acting Director of the Oregon Department of Energy, will make the final decision on the request after reviewing SELPAC’s recommendation. SELPAC will also hear an update on the SoloPower (Portland) loan documentation process.

With the combined-cycle cogeneration turbine, the University of Oregon will produce an income stream by selling the electricity to the Eugene Water & Electric Board, and reclaim and redirect waste heat to provide for the University’s needs for steam heating, sterilizing, cooking and hot water, and do it with greatly reduced emissions.

A complete agenda for the SELPAC meeting can be found on the ODOE website at: http://www.oregon.gov/ENERGY/LOANS/selphm.shtml

The State Energy Loan Program makes long-term, fixed-rate loans to governments, tribes, schools, non-profit organizations, businesses and individuals to finance Oregon projects that conserve energy or use renewable resources.

The next SELPAC meeting is scheduled for May 17.
