Building a New School
Numerous studies and actual experience have shown that an integrated approach to new school design and construction can significantly impact future energy consumption. Additional benefits to integrated design can include improved student performance, increased teacher retention, and improved absenteeism.
The State of Oregon can directly support integrated design at new schools through the High Performance School Program grant. Any Oregon public school can apply for this grant and two grants are awarded each year. Awards are based on several evaluation criteria including need, commitment to energy efficiency, previous awards, and stage of project development.
