Sharing and Finding: Work Samples Resources
In support of the Essential Skills graduation requirement, many districts will offer Work Samples as an assessment option for their students. ODE is working to facilitate resource sharing among districts and education service districts (ESDs).
Online Work Sample Bank
The ORSkills online system includes an online bank for Work Sample prompts. This online system was developed through a partnership between Willamette ESD, Multnomah ESD and the ODE.
Number of Work Sample Prompts
More than 200 Work Sample prompts across 10 languages are available to date in the ORSkills online system.
Districts may use prompts developed by the ODE or ESDs.
- The 30 ODE prompts in each Essential Skill are free. Ten of these prompts are available without restrictions. The other 20 prompts have the following restrictions:
- They may only be used by seniors who have not fulfilled their Essential Skills requirement.
- Students may use only two prompts from each Essential Skill area (e.g., Math, Reading, Writing).
- The ESD-developed prompts cost $2 each but may be used by any grade level.
In order to obtain access to the ORSkills online system, District Test Coordinators or school administrators should contact ORSkills Help at Willamette ESD to set up an account.

ODE has collected information from districts who have Work Sample prompts available to share. The following Excel spreadsheets include a description of what the district has to share and the contact information.
