Welcome to Mediation

In conjunction with local government agencies * and non-profit, non-governmental entities*, the State of Oregon is pleased to offer Mediation services to residents and landlords of manufactured home parks.  In mediation, the disputing parties work with a neutral third party, the mediator*, to resolve their disputes. The mediator facilitates the resolution of the parties' disputes by supervising thoughtful exchange of communication between parties.

Unlike arbitration, mediation doesn't involve decision making by a third party; there are no judges. Mediation is voluntary and both parties must agree to come together in good faith to each discuss their perspectives of the conflict, weigh possible alternatives and arrive at a solution that is mutually acceptable. The mediator is a gatekeeper insuring a safe space where all parties are permitted to express their concerns in a secure environment.

Mediation is more immediate, personal and inexpensive than formal court proceedings. It allows the parties to focus on the underlying circumstances that contributed to the dispute, rather than on narrow legal issues or letter of the law. The mediation process does not focus on fault. Questions of which party is right or wrong are generally less important than arriving at a consensus of how the problem can be resolved.

Dispute and conflict are a natural part of living and the natural tension arising from perceived or real differences. Mediation offers an opportunity to explore options, learn from the past, look to the future and generate solutions that meet joint needs and mutual benefits.

Participating Community Dispute Resolution Centers listed below are eager to assist you. Note, mediation services are NO Charge to both tenants and landlords and are conducted in the strictest confidence.
