Application Review: Following the application deadline, recruitment consultants review application materials for the minimum qualifications and any special qualifications for the position.

Following the review process, recruitment consultants send the list of qualified candidates to the hiring manager.

​Hiring managers review the application materials for the scoring criteria listed in the announcement under the “What we'd like to see" section. We may also use other factors to help us decide who will move forward, such as transferrable skills, experience, education, and alignment with ODF values. Following this review step, the hiring manager invites the highest scoring applicants to interview for the position.​

​We strive to ensure a fair and thoughtful hiring experience for all applicants. While the process may vary slightly by position, most roles follow a multi-step evaluation that helps us match qualified individuals with opportunities where they can thrive. This typically includes the following:

  • Minimum Qualifications Review – We review all applications to confirm that candidates meet the minimum qualifications for the position classification as set by the Department of Administrative Services.
  • Desired Attributes Review – For some positions, we also assess desired skills or experiences beyond the minimum requirements. Please make sure information pertaining to the desired attributes is clearly documented in your application materials.
  • Interview – Qualified candidates are invited to participate in at least one interview. This may be conducted by a manager or panel, and may occur virtually, in person, or over the phone depending on availability and the nature of the position. In cases where multiple top candidates are being considered, a final interview may be conducted to help inform our decision.

Most hiring processes are completed within approximately three weeks of the application deadline. However, during periods of high-volume or seasonal recruitment, timelines may vary slightly.

Candidates will be contacted if additional information is needed during the review process. Most direct communication will come from the hiring manager for the position.
