Oregon's 2021 Legislature passed Senate Bill 762 requiring the Oregon Department of Forestry to establish a Certified Burn Manager Program. This program includes requirements, standards, and procedures to obtain a certification through ODF. This program allows for training and certification of personnel to conduct prescribed burns and reduce individual liability when following program criteria.
It is the duty of the Certified Burn Manager Advisory Committee to advise the Oregon Department of Forestry on the program and the collection of information and data surrounding prescribed burns and follow the progress toward meeting federal and state air quality standards.
