DPSST Private Security Instructor Renewals

Certified Instructor Demonstration (CID) Guidelines

Certified Instructors are required to submit video recordings as part of the renewal process. Please review submission requirements carefully.

Submitting Process:

  • CIDs are required every three years and can take up to 30 days to process. Plan accordingly to allow enough time for processing, ensuring renewal is not delayed.
  • CID submissions are date-stamped based on when received, not the date reviewed.
  • Once the submission is received, the DPSST Learning and Development Specialist will review and send notification of the outcome.
  • If remediation is required, the CID and/ or the renewal will be marked as pending until deficiencies are resolved.

CID Requirements:

  • Submissions are required to include Video CID and a Video Submission Cover Sheet.
  • Videos must be at least 20 minutes long and cover learning outcomes specific to the instructor's certification per the DPSST training manual. Videos under 20 minutes will not be evaluated.
  • Content can be from Basic or Refresher courses.
  • Audio and visual content must be clear, capturing all student / instructor interactions and instructional aids used (e.g., PowerPoints).
  • Video submissions cannot be greater than 1 gigabyte file size.
