Public Records and Requests

The Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training (DPSST) strives for transparency by providing access to public records in accordance with Oregon’s Public Records Laws in the most efficient and timely manner possible. 
Guiding Documents: 

Public records requests must be made in writing and must include the requestor's name and current contact information. The request must also identify the records being requested and the preferred format. 


Requests can be emailed to dpsst.records@state.or.us, submitted by fax to (503) 378-4600 or mailed to:

NOTE: The DPSST may charge fees to recover the actual costs of satisfying a public records request. These fees may include staff time, media, supplies and postage, pursuant to DAS Policy 107-01-60, DPSST Policy 129, DPSST Procedure 129b and OAR 259-025-0000. 

DPSST assesses fees for staff time using the following fee schedule: 

  • $25.00/HR for Clerical (Administrative Specialists/Assistants and Office Specialists) 
  • $40.00/HR for Managerial (Program Managers and Public Information Officers) 
  • $75.00/HR for Professional (IT, HR, and High-Level Analysts) 

 Advance payment of any estimated fees may be required prior to the release of the requested information. 

Criminal Justice Records consists of certification and training records for Police Officers, Corrections Officers, Parole and Probation Officers, Regulatory Specialists (OLCC), Telecommunicators, and Emergency Medical Dispatchers.  Records include the officer's training, employment, certification, and education history. 

Criminal Justice Officer records can be accessed through our Information Resource Inquiry System (Criminal Justice IRIS). Data contained is updated nightly and is intended to assist DPSST constituents and members of the public by providing 24/7 access to commonly requested information.  Please direct any questions regarding the information contained in CJ IRIS to the CJ Certification Program at 503-378-4411 or email schedulecert@state.or.us. ​​​

The Fire Certification IRIS consists of certification and training information for Fire Service Professionals certified in the State of Oregon. Records include the fire service professional's training, fire agency affiliation(s), and certification(s).

​IRIS Polygraph Examiner IRIS consists of licensing information for Polygraph Examiners licensed in the State of Oregon. Records include the officer's training, employment, certification, and education history.
