Entity License Search

Private Security Entity (PSE) Licensing records are available online through the PSE Information Records Inquiry System (IRIS) and is available at:

SMS Entity Search (bpl-orsnapshot.net)

An "active" entity does not mean the entity has been issued a PSE license, but is currently or has recently been active by providing private security services.

PSE IRIS Walkthrough

The records can be searched by Entity Name or Entity Identification Number (EID), and will display if the entity file is currently active or inactive.

To access an entity's license status, select the entity's name. The entity's current License, Status, License Date, and the License Expiration Date will be listed.

The DPSST received a PSE License Application and payment from Entity 0019 on January 2, 2024, and they were issued a Temporary Authorization Form (TAF). When their PSE License Application was completed on January 5, 2024, they were issued an Entity License and the TAF was expired. Their PSE License is valid between the License Date and License Expiration date.

An "active" entity that is authorized to operate as a private security entity will show:
  • A Temporary Authorization Form with the status "issued" that has not expired,

  • or an Entity License with the status "issued" that has not expired,

  • or an Entity License or Temporary Authorization Form with the status "Subordinate" that has not expired

The entity has multiple files with the DPSST, and is in the process of being combined into a single file, or cannot be combined into a single file due to internal processes.

  • or an Entity License with the status "Exempt" that has not expired.

The entity is exempt from licensure or does not qualify as a private security entity, but may still legally provide private security services if operating under an exemption.

An entity that has not applied for a private security entity license will display as:

Only entities with a valid Private Security Entity License or Temporary Authorization Form may operate as a Private Security Entity in Oregon.

Records are updated to the PSE IRIS overnight, and may take up to 24 hours to show updates. If the PSE IRIS does not provide the information you need, please submit a Public Records Request. The program is also available by phone at 503-378-8531 (extension 2), or e-mail at PSE@dpsst.oregon.gov, Monday - Friday, 8AM to 4:30PM.
