Teacher Trainings

South Slough Reserve offers professional development opportunities
for classroom teachers, pre-service teachers, and informal educators who work with pre-K-12 and college students. Workshops cover a range of issues in our estuaries and coastal watersheds such as climate change, invasive species, and habitat protection. Trainings vary in length from single half-day events to year-long series, depending on the topic, time of year and location.

Workshops provide educators with tools and information to bring science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) to life in their classrooms and school yards using place-based, culturally relevant examples, scientific research, and data. The Reserve often partners with other organizations to offer diverse, engaging training that can be implemented immediately in the classroom. Stipends and funding for substitute teachers, travel, or supplies may be available upon request.
