The Tillamook Forest Center is a modern education and interpretive center in the heart of the Tillamook State Forest. Through hands-on exhibits, attractive riverside and forest trails, and educational offerings, you'll take a journey through the history of Oregon's forests, the power of wildfire and the art and science of sustainable forest management today.
The Center's grounds include a climbable 40-foot replica of a forest fire lookout tower and a dramatic 250-foot pedestrian suspension bridge connecting the Center across the Wilson River to the Wilson River Trail and nearby Jones Creek Campground. Indoor exhibits include depictions of early settler life, a peek at the walking, crawling, flying and swimming wildlife that call the Tillamook State Forest home, and how modern forest practices ensure sustainability for generations to come. The Center is mostly self-guided, but staff and volunteers are available to assist as you navigate the intriguing past and exciting future of Oregon's forests.
The Center offers a suite of interpretive and educational programs for adults and children alike – and makes for a great field trip! Reservations are required for groups of 10 or more. Please
visit the Tillamook Forest Center website for additional information on group reservations.
The Center is located on Oregon Highway 6, about an hour's drive west of Portland and 22 miles east of Tillamook. The Center is closed in the winter and hours change seasonally, so
check the Tillamook Forest Center website for the latest information on operating hours, special events, and a whole lot more!
