Vocational Rehabilitation puts eligible applicants on a waitlist. This page has a list of answers to questions you might have about the new process. We hope these can assist you when working with clients.

VR will prioritize those with the most significant disabilities first, according to application date.
People who are in plan, meaning they are already getting services from a VR counselor, will continue to receive those services without interruption.
People determined eligible for services but not yet getting services by the time the waitlist goes into effect will be added to the waitlist.
Students who are receiving pre-employment transition services will continue to receive those services, but there may be delays.
VR will assign people who are determined eligible for services to a priority category. The priority category and date of application will determine how quickly we can serve someone. There are three priority categories:
- Priority category 1: People whose disability creates a substantial barrier to employment in three or more areas.
- People in this list will be served in order of who applied first as soon as space opens up.
- Priority category 2: People whose disability creates a substantial barrier to employment in at least one area.
- We will begin serving people in this list only after everyone in Priority 1 has been served.
- Priority category 3: People who are eligible for VR, but whose disability does not present any substantial barriers to employment.
- We will begin serving people in this list only after everyone in Priority 1 and 2 has been served.
We don’t have a way to predict an individual’s wait time. When funding and resources become available, we will release people from the waitlist according to their priority category, and then according to date of application. People in Priority category 2 or 3 could have longer wait times.
Let them know that VR encourages everyone interested in VR services to apply as soon as possible because their application date is important. We will serve people according to their priority category and application date.
VR is using a waitlist because:
- More people are seeking VR services.
- VR has a limited budget.
- Our funding has not increased to meet the demand for services.
Federal law requires us to follow a specific process called Order of Selection to determine who will receive services when there isn’t enough money to serve everyone who is eligible. This process gives priority to people who most need our services.
We serve students with disabilities between ages 14 and 21 two different ways. Students may qualify to receive pre-employment transition services (Pre-ETS) while they are enrolled in high school or post-secondary education, without needing to go on the waitlist.
Students can also get a wider array of services by applying for VR Services. We encourage students to apply for VR services and get on the waitlist if the student and their team believe they will need substantial services in the future.

VR dará prioridad a aquellos con las discapacidades más significativas primero, según su fecha de solicitud.

Las personas que se determina que son elegibles, pero que aún no reciben servicios en el momento que la lista de espera comienza, se agregarán a la lista de espera.
Si usted es eligible para recibir servicios, le asignaremos una categoría de prioridad. Su categoría de prioridad y la fecha de su solicitud determinarán cuando le podemos prestar servicios.

No tenemos ninguna forma de predecir el tiempo de espera de una persona. Cuando el financiamiento y los recursos estén disponibles, liberaremos a las personas de la lista de espera de acuerdo con su categoría de prioridad y luego según la fecha de su solicitud. Las personas en las categorías 2 y 3 podrían tener tiempos de espera más largos.
Déjeles saber que VR anima a todas las personas interesadas en los servicios de VR a presentar una solicitud lo antes posible porque su fecha de solicitud es importante. Les daremos servicios a las personas según su categoría de prioridad y la fecha de su solicitud.
VR utiliza una lista de espera porque:
- Hay más personas que buscan los servicios de VR.
- El presupuesto de VR es limitado.
- Nuestro financiamiento no ha aumentado para satisfacer la demanda de nuestros servicios.
La ley federal nos exige seguir un proceso específico llamado el Orden de Selección para determinar quién recibirá servicios cuando no hay suficiente dinero para darle servicios a todas las personas que son elegibles. Este proceso le da prioridad a las personas que más necesitan nuestros servicios.
Los estudiantes con discapacidades entre 14 y 21 años de edad que quieran solicitar los servicios de VR pasarán por el mismo proceso de elegibilidad y lista de espera. Animamos a los estudiantes a
presentar una solicitud para los servicios de VR si el estudiante y su equipo creen que necesitará servicios sustanciales en el futuro.
