Annual requirements

Oregon Registered Geologists (RGs) and Certified Engineering Geologists (CEGs) must meet continuing education requirements set by the Board unless specifically exempted. Most exemptions must be approved by the Board. Each year, you need to complete 8 hours of qualifying continuing education activities. If you do more than 8 hours in a year, you can carry over up to 8 extra hours to the next renewal year—but not beyond that.

RGs and CEGs can pick from a wide range of activities outlined in Board rules, the Continuing Education Guidance document, and the Potential Activities List available on this page. The Board does not pre-approve activities; this lets registrants have more options.

Tracking your hours

The Board requires use of an activities log form to keep track of your continuing education. Example log forms are available for download in Excel and Word formats.
