Groundwater Registration

A Groundwater Registration is a sworn statement claiming a right to appropriate groundwater and proof for a water use that began prior to August 3, 1955. A claim consists of a Registration Statement filed with the Department, which is accompanied by a map describing the location, use, and rate of water use.

Groundwater Registration Statements were required to be filed with the Department by August 3, 1958. Groundwater Registration Statements may be amended by submitting an Application for Groundwater Registration Modification to make a change in the point of appropriation, the place of use, and/or character of use. The right of the registrant's claim to appropriate groundwater under the registration is subject to determination under Adjudication pursuant to ORS 537.670 to 537.956.
