Feasibility Study Grants

Updates

The Oregon Water Resources Department (OWRD) invites written public comment on applications received for Feasibility Study Grants. OWRD received four applications requesting a total of $285,179 in grant funding. A multi-agency team reviewed each application and recommends funding three of the four applications. After reviewing public comments, OWRD will make funding recommendations for consideration and approval by the Water Resources Commission. The tentative date for the Commission to make its funding decision is at the March 21-22, 2024 meeting.

Written comments on the applications will be accepted until 5 p.m. on March 7, 2024.

Please submit comments to: OWRD.Grants@water.oregon.gov or Grant Coordinator, 725 Summer Street NE, Suite A, Salem, Oregon 97301.

Eligibility

Feasibility Study Grants fund qualifying costs of studies to evaluate the feasibility of developing water conservation, reuse, and storage projects. This competitive funding opportunity helps individuals and communities investigate whether a project is worth pursuing. Grants are offered on an annual basis, with applications due each fall. Grants require a 50% cost match of the total cost of the feasibility study, up to $500,000. Any local government, Indian tribe, or person may apply for funding.

Available Funding

OWRD anticipates there will be approximately $750,000 in funding for the 2023-2024 funding cycle of Feasibility Study Grants. Because the source of funding for the studies is General Fund all funded studies must be completed by June 30, 2025.
