The Oregon DOT's Motor Carrier Division has developed a new Trucking Online application that helps Oregon fuel sellers with the collection of fuel tax. The application allows users to enter a trucking company's name or partial name and view details about the company's vehicles, including a list of all credentials issued in the current or previous year. The company name may also be filtered by city, state, and Canadian province to narrow the search. Vehicle and company details may also be obtained by entering the plate number on the vehicle, or the temporary pass number being carried in the vehicle. With the information, a fuel seller can determine if a truck is paying the state's weight-mile tax and, in that case, does not need to pay the fuels tax. You must register with the Fuels Tax Group as a Third Party Payer/Bulk Distributor and report all bulk fuel sales on a monthly basis IF you do not have an Oregon Use Fuel Seller license and collect fuel tax on bulk sales from Use Fuel Users. Effective January 1, 2011, the Oregon fuels tax will be $0.30 per gallons on gasoline and diesel fuels. The new state tax rate was adopted by the legislature in 2009. Local city and county tax rate are not impacted. Tax rates on aviation and jet fuel remain the same.
