  • Heritage Plan outlines 5-year strategies to strengthen state
    The Oregon Heritage Commission has created the 2014-2019 Oregon Heritage Plan. The document outlines strategies that it will use during the next five years to strengthen heritage organizations in state. Developed during a year-long planning process, Heritage Plan encourages organizations to adopt complementary strategies.

    “During the past five decades, we have received hundreds of studies and reports about historic and pre-historic places in Oregon,” said Chrissy Curran, manager of Oregon Heritage and the deputy state historic preservation officer. “We’ve worked so that the public can now have easy access to these documents as well as the titles of other books that have been published since the 1950s.”

    Oregon Main Street Just accepted La Grande Main Street Downtown and The Dalles Main Street programs at the Performing Main Street level of Oregon Main Street. Theyjoin Albany, Astoria, Corvallis, Mcminnville, Oregon City and Roseburg at this top level.

  • Pacific City Dory Days designated an Oregon Heritage Tradition
    dorydays3.jpgDory Days, a festival celebrating local fishing culture, now in its 57th year is the newest Oregon Heritage Tradition designated by the Oregon Heritage Commission.

    Dory Days is the 13th event designated an Oregon Heritage Tradition. The others include the Oregon State Fair, the Pendleton Round-Up, the Klamath Basin Potato Festival and the Linn County Pioneer Picnic.
