Since 2010, the Office of Equity and Inclusion has been working with socially, culturally and professionally diverse community partners from across the state to develop strategies and policy recommendations for integrating health equity into state health reform.
In September 2011, OEI presented recommendations to the Health Systems Transformation workgroups. The webinar is available online.
As a product of the efforts of OEI and our partners, OHA established several requirements for CCOs to integrate health equity, diversity development, and culturally and linguistically appropriate services into their transformation plans:
- Transformation Plan Element #6 : Addressing Members’ Cultural, Health Literacy, and Linguistic Needs
- Transformation Plan Element #7: Provider Network and Staff Ability to Meet Culturally Diverse Community Needs
- Transformation Plan Element #8: Quality Improvement Plan – Eliminating Racial, Ethnic, and Linguistic Disparities
OEI is continuing to work with CCOs and the OHA Transformation Center to provide support and technical assistance to advance health equity and implement these elements of their transformation plans. In January 2013, we hosted a webinar learning series available here.
