Health Equity Policy Review Committee

The Oregon Health Policy Board and the Oregon Health Authority are working to assure that federal and state reforms result in improving the lifelong health of Oregonians, increasing the quality, reliability, and availability of care for all Oregonians, and lowering or containing the cost of care so it's affordable to everyone. However, the Oregon Health Policy Board and the Oregon Health Authority have acknowledged that specific strategies need to be explored, recommended, and implemented to assure that all populations enjoy health equitably.

What is Health Equity?

The Oregon Health Authority has identified Health Equity as a fundamental value. In implementing health care reform locally, all Oregon Health Policy Board Members, committee members, and Oregon Health Authority staff will strive to avoid creating or maintaining health policies that perpetuate or increase avoidable and unjust health inequities.

To this end, the Health Equity Policy Review Committee has been assembled to proactively evaluate all recommended policy improvements throughout the policy making process to assure they fully promote the elimination of inequities and promote health equity.

The committee will exist from September 2010 through February 2011. Meetings will be held twice a month for 4 hours.
