The Board of Licensed Social Workers approved amendments to OAR 877-001-0020 that implemented a 10% fee increase for certain license renewals.  The new fees are shown  in the following chart.
License type
Renewal period
Previous renewal fee
New renewal fee with 10% increase
2 years
1 year
2 years
2 years
LCSW (inactive)
2 years
LCSW (Semi Retired)
2 years
This increase will allow the Board to continue to provide its current level of service and finish the budget cycle with an ending balance equal to 3-4 months operating expenses, which is the target recommended by the Legislature to help avoid budget shortfalls and to ensure that the Board can provide continuity of service to the licensees.
The new fees took effect January 1, 2016 and will apply to all renewals from this date forward. If you already renewed and were charged the old fee, your renewal is complete and you will not have to pay the additional amount. All renewals going forward will pay the increased amount.

Please note:

Effective January 2017: An email address of record is required by rule. It is recommended
you to check this email at least once per month.
We would highly encourage you to check more so, during your renewal period, for important licensing information.

Effective November 2015:
In an attempt to reduce Board costs and unnecessary waste, the Board and staff are moving toward electronic and digital correspondence whenever possible.  The Board will no longer be providing mailed copies, or renewal notices through the
U.S Postal Service, unless required by law or Board procedural guidelines.  Licensure information is posted on the Web, including your renewal and expiration dates.  Remember that your renewal is always due by the end of your birth month. Not recieving notification to renew is not a valid reason to not renew your license. We will always attempt to send out an email reminder, however this is courtesy not required.

Please be sure to provide the board with an updated email address.
Thank you for assisting us in our efforts to reduce waste & spending.
