2019 ARSL Conference Scholarship


The State Library is pleased to be offering 10 scholarships of $1725 each for the 2019 Association of Rural and Small Libraries (ARSL) Conference in Burlington, VT., from September 4 – 7, 2019.

NOTE: Registration has been pre-paid by the State Library at a cost of $275, making this scholarship worth $2,000 total.

Deadline: Online applicationswill be accepted through Friday, April 5th. Selected recipients will be notified via email by April 12th.
 
 
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Applicants must be a staff member from a legally established public library in Oregon serving a population of 25,000 or less (based on 2016-17 Public Library statistics). The intent is to distribute 8 of the 10 scholarships to staff from libraries serving a population area of 15,000 or less.
  • Selected recipients agree to attend the full conference (September 5 – 7, 2019).
  • Selected recipients may use scholarship funds for pre-conference(s) on September 4, 2019, in addition to the regular conference.
  • Selected recipients commit to a providing a conference report by December 13, 2019. Options include a visual or written report that the State Library of Oregon can share, an article for publication (e.g., OLA Hotline) with a copy submitted to the State Library, or presenting on a panel webinar hosted by the State Library of Oregon. Applicants will have the opportunity propose alternate reporting methods as well.
  • Selected recipients agree to join ARSL if not already a member (cost NOT eligible for reimbursement).
 
Other Requirements:
  • Scholarship works on a reimbursement process and reimbursements will be made to selected recipient's library. Selected recipients will be required to submit a travel reimbursement form (provided by the State Library) with copies of receipts for claimed expenses: travel (including airfare, parking, shuttles, taxis, etc.), lodging, and meals. Reimbursement form must be submitted to the State Library no later than October 31, 2019.
  • Reimbursements will be made up to $1,725.00.
  • Scholarship funds cannot be used to cover any association membership fees. 
  • Scholarship funds cannot be used to cover costs incurred by family members or friends who accompany recipient to the conference.
