Updates on LSTA Funding
July 2025
Recent federal funding instability is affecting State Library programs, grants, and services funded with Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) monies. The points below summarize our current situation. We also provide links to information on how the situation affects specific programs.
Current situation
- We have received our full LSTA 2025 award of $2.6 million.
- As long as we continue to be able to draw down LSTA funds from our federal funder, that money will fund current staff through September 2026 and projects and services through June 2026.
- The current budget bill moving through Congress eliminates LSTA 2026 funding. Those are the funds we’d begin spending in July 2026.
- Further general updates and background are available at this page.
