Summer ILL for School Library Staff
When you borrow a book from the State Library’s
Library and Information Science Collection, you are using interlibrary loan (ILL). Technically, ILL is a transaction between institutions. Because school staff are not consistently available to receive mail at their school during summer vacation and because ILLs cannot be mailed to home addresses, we have a summer ILL policy. You have three options:
- Make the request via your public library. Many public libraries include interlibrary loan information on their websites. Some charge a small fee for ILL.
- If you live near or in Salem, request the materials via email or phone (503-378-8800), and indicate that you would like to pick up items in person. Once you are notified that the items are ready, arrange a time with staff to come to the State Library. Staff work Monday thru Friday, but their availability varies.
- Or, wait until you are back in school, and request the item/s at that time.
