About the Board


The State Library Board has legal and fiduciary responsibilities, sets policy, determines the library mission and vision, and is directly accountable to the public via the Governor and Legislature of the state of Oregon.

State Library Board By-Laws

 
The State Library Board has two upcoming openings for a member from a state agency and a member of staff from a publicly-funded Community College or University Library. These four-year terms will begin July 1, 2024. The Board meets 5 times per year and includes options for remote or in-person attendance. Applications may be submitted via Workday by February 12, 2024.
 

The role of the State Librarian is to provide leadership to conduct the business of the agency in performing and fulfilling the mission as set forth by the State Library Board, Governor, and Oregon State Legislature.

The State Librarian shall be the Secretary for the State Library Board
