Forest History Center

The Forest History Center is both a museum and an archive dedicated to preserving the history of forestry and related activities in Oregon. The center is a place for the public to visit, providing an opportunity to learn about and understand the history, people, and development over time of Oregon’s valuable historic forestry legacy.

Displays

The center’s displays showcase various aspects of forestry and currently include information and artifacts on the following:

  • Tools for both firefighting and logging
  • Reforestation
  • Keep Oregon Green memorabilia
  • Kilchis Incline Railroad (near Tillamook)
  • Look-out towers in Oregon
  • Fire-finder
  • Oregon’s State Forests
  • Civilian Conservation Corps projects and activities in Oregon
  • 1930s fires of the Tillamook Burn
  • Early radios, telephones, cameras, and surveying equipment

We continually add to and adjust the displays. So, if you have not visited the museum for awhile, stop in again to see what’s new.

Partners

The Keep Oregon Green Association, the Oregon Alumni of the Civilian Conservation Corps (formerly Chapter 4), and the Oregon Forestry Retirees Association are valuable partners with ODF in the Forest History Center’s operations.
