OR 551 at Ehlen Road Safety Project

Design Phase

Region 2: Willamette Valley and Northwest Oregon (Aurora, Marion)

Safety project to add dedicated left turn lanes on both approaches of Ehlen Road.

Design Banner

In working with  Marion County, we identified that the OR 551 and Ehlen Road intersection needs safety improvements. The current intersection layout creates congestion as a car is waiting to make a left turn.
To address the safety and operational issues, we will add left turn lanes on Ehlen Road approaching OR 551 in both directions.
EhlenRdCrossSection.pngTo reduce congestion and improve operations at the intersection, the left turn lane will be protected by a concrete traffic separator on the west side of Ehlen Road. This separator will restrict left turns to and from Boones Ferry Road onto Ehlen Road.
Because of the new concrete separator, left-turning traffic on the north side of the Boones Ferry/Ehlen Road intersection will use Keil Road. Left-turning traffic on the south side of the intersection will use the new county connector road.

We will hold an online open house in early 2020.
