The Oregon Department of Transportation installed more than half a mile of new sidewalk on the westbound (north) side of U.S. 26 between Ten Eyck Road/Wolf Drive and Vista Loop Road in Sandy in 2022. There was no sidewalk in this area, so people often used the shoulder of the highway. Now, the new six-foot-wide sidewalk to give people a safe place to walk and roll from the Sandy Vista Apartments into town to get to shops, the post office, Sandy Transit Center, and other destinations.

The estimated construction cost for this project is $4.2 million.
