Flaggers and a pilot car direct traffic thorugh the mile long work zone Monday-Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Friday from 7 a.m. to noon, until the end of September.

 

 

 

Travelers should expect 20 minute delays in the construction area. The final portion of construction of a westbound passing lane resumes with the installation of a culvert and paving. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

24-hour flagging will occur August 26-29.

Construction Impacts

​Crews are building up the road base on both sides of the road and extending existing culverts.

​Construction began in February 2019 and will be completed by October.

About

Segments of OR 126W have had more fatal and serious crashs than the statewide average for similar roadways.

Constructing a westbound passing lane and adding centerline and shoulder rumble strips areas are safety enhancements designed to reduce the number of those crashes and improve overall safety.

Benefits

​This project will:

  • Construct a westbound passing lane, creating a three lane highway section between Walker Creek and Chickahominy Creek 
  • Replace a large culvert pipe under the highway 
  • Install centerline and shoulder rumble strips.
