OR 126 Cornerstone Drive - Terry Street (Veneta to Eugene) Pavement Preservation Project

Construction Phase

Region 2: Willamette Valley and Northwest Oregon (Eugene, Veneta, Lane)

This project will replace the pavement between Veneta and Eugene and add safety improvements.

Traffic Impact

Most work will be done at night to minimize impact to travelers. Travelers should expect lane closures and reduced speeds in the work zone.

Construction Impacts

Replacing a bridge rail just to the west of Fisher Road requires at least two weeks of continuous one-lane closures Sunday night through Friday morning. The highway will be fully open on weekends. That work begins in April.

Beginning in mid-April:

  • New bus pullouts will be constructed near Ellmaker Road
  • Bridge rail will be replaced on a small bridge west of Fisher Road.

Trees were removed near Shady Rest Drive and Lake Side Drive over the winter to prepare for widening the north shoulder of the road.

Five and a half miles of new paving was completed in 2018, and 9000 feet of new guardrail installed. In 2019, another one and a half miles of paving will be done.

The project is scheduled to be complete in September 2019.

The pavement condition within this section of highway is deteriorated and needs repair. Areas have been patched and that repair work will continue until the full preservation project is underway. The project also includes safety improvements at various intersections on OR 126.
