U.S. 101: Yaquina Bay Bridge Maintenance and Improvements

Impacts

Traffic Impact

​Expect intermittent single lane closures on the bridge at night.

Construction Impacts

Most of the work is happening under the bridge and should not impact traffic. We built a temporary work structure under the bridge to minimize impacts to travelers, you can see it in the left side of this image

Work is estimated to complete 2023.

Construction Activities

Work is continuing on the north end of the bridge. The last section of scaffolding is being constructed over the water near the center of the bridge.

Pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will have access through or around the work zone.

image of Yaquina Bay Bridge during constructionThis project will replace the cathodic protection (corrosion protection) on the bridge, repair damaged concrete and provide seismic upgrades to retrofit the bridge. This work is necessary to maintain the health of the bridge and increase its lifespan.

Schedule

​Construction started in the Spring of 2020.

Construction is expected to take three and half years. ​

U.S. 101 | ​The Yaquina Bay Bridge is located between milepost 141.68 and 141.99 in Newport.

Cost and Funding

$30 million

Additional Information

​The Yaquina Bay Bridge was opened to traffic in 1936. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.
