I-5 Ramp Repairs
Construction to repair three on-ramps to Interstate 5 in SW Portland starts July 2021 including:
SW Multnomah Blvd on-ramp to I-5 north
- New concrete bridge surface.
- New ramp joints.
- New fencing and rail on both sides of the ramp.
Capitol Hwy on-ramp to I-5 south
- New concrete bridge surface.
- New ramp joints.
- New bridge rail.
SW Barbur Blvd on-ramp to I-5 north
- Remove old paint and repaint steel bridge structure.
- Replace bolts as needed.
In Design Now: I-5 Over SW 26th Avenue Improvements Begin Spring 2023ODOT is designing improvements to the I-5 crossing over SW 26th Avenue. These improvements will help maintain this section of the busy I-5 corridor. We expect construction to start in 2023 and we will share more information as it becomes available. This project used to share a website with the three ramp repears, but it has a separate website now. To learn more about the I-5 Over 26th Avenue Improvements Project, visit:

Benefits
- Maintaining and investing in our roads: This work will extend the life of the transportation system. Ramp repairs increase capacity to handle daily traffic loads, while a bridge improvement will better sustain a major event, such as an earthquake.
- Smoother ride for travelers: An improved roadway will provide a smoother ride for 120,000 drivers who use this stretch of I-5 every day, causing less wear and tear on drivers’ vehicles.
What Project Will This Improve?
This project will address one bridge and three ramps in need of improvement to provide a smooth ride for travelers, extend the life of the heavily traveled roadway, and maintain safe conditions.
