About
This project was in downtown Corvallis where three highways meet. It's a busy business and residential area that has significant bike and pedestrian activity. We made improvements to benefit all users whether they drive, ride, walk or roll.
We improved safety by:
- Replacing the traffic signals and repaving small sections of road at two intersections:
- Harrison Boulevard and NW 2nd Street.
- Harrison Boulevard and NW 3rd Street.
- Upgrading the existing ADA curb ramps.
- Bringing the curb of the northeast corner to street level and installing a mountable concrete surface. This mountable surface is called a truck apron that makes it easier for large trucks to turn onto NW 3rd Street. We also installed a bike lane separator at this intersection.
- Bringing the curb of the northwest corner to street level and installing a mountable concrete surface. This mountable surface is called a truck apron that makes it easier for large trucks to turn onto NW 4th Street. We also installed a bike lane separator at this intersection.
- Making bicycle and pedestrian improvements on Tyler Avenue at NW 2nd and NW 3rd Streets to support the bicycle corridor.
- Installing a mountable median separator at NW 2nd Street and Tyler Avenue that restricts vehicle movement.
- Installing curb ramp extensions at NW 3rd Street and Tyler Avenue to slow traffic down and provide a shorter distance to cross the road.
