OR 126B: Westbound Main Street Bridge Repairs

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​We're repairing this historic bridge to keep it in good working order and give you a smoother ride.​​

Impacts

Traffic Impact

Expect crews working during the day with lane and shoulder closures and flaggers directing traffic as needed. Feb. 9 - 11, expect single lane closures between 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.​ Please use caution and watch for workers.

  • Crews working mostly during the day, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Lane and shoulder closures as needed. 
  • Flaggers directing traffic when crews are setting up cones and barrels.
  • Construction noise and delays.
  • Businesses to remain open during construction.
  • Pedestrians and bicyclists to use the South A Street Bridge.

Construction Activities

We're making repairs to the westbound Main Street Bridge, removing the temporary connection from the South A Street Bridge to the roundabout for westbound traffic and building new curbs and sidewalk where the temporary detour was. ​​


​Pedestrians, including those with disabilities, will have access through or around work zones. ​

Always drive safely, watch for construction signs and workers. 

Remember: fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.​

About

​The historic westbound OR 126B Main Street Bridge over the Willamette River was built in 1929. The surface has cracks and is in need of repairs. 

To improve the bridge's lifespan, we're:

  • Removing and replacing the bridge surface.
  • Replacing the bridge joints.
  • Repaving the road on the east approach.
